On Sunday 23rd, at the Monaco Hall in Wigan, Our very own Josh Turbill fought against Darrin Till of Sapphire Gym for the ISKA Northern Area Welterweight Title. Following from his win against Sean Perry at the Bolton Icon nightclub, Josh carried forward his high level of fitness and confidence into this battle, of two of the sports rising stars. Following a hard first 2 rounds, Josh’s fitness shone through as he powered through the guard of his opponent in the 3rd round to start delivering his trademark Body knees. Although Darren hit hard, and threw some solid hooks to Josh, Josh stood his ground and carried on fighting. In the Fifth round, Josh was able to send Darren to the canvas with more devastating knee’s, however Darren showed his worth, and defied the count, not once, but twice, and managed to fight until the end of the five rounds. Josh was announced the winner by a unanimous decision, and presented the ISKA Northern Area belt by one of its previous owners, Andy Thrasher. Here at Spitfire we would like to congratulate josh on his stunning victory to bring home the gym first belt (of many to come). We would also like to thank Darren Till from the Sapphire Gym for agreeing to this match.
